Austin Texas Wedding Photographer and Videographer | Laura and Bill at Memory Lane Event Center

Laura and Bill had were some of the funnest people Mila and I have had the pleasure of shooting for. I was able to capture there rehearsal dinner and that’s when I knew it was going to be a fun time.

I just remember the whole time people saying ” Y’all Ready?” and it made me chuckle every time. It was so cool to see how their families already had such a cool bond like that where they had special lingo / inside jokes.

Shooting at the Memory Lane Event Center always makes for a fun time and its a great venue for people to have everything  in one location and not have to worry about too much outsourcing for their wedding. The staff is always a pleasure to work with and it makes for an easy and top notch wedding day for couples.

I remember close to the beginning of the ceremony “Molly Bear” Laura and Bill’s dog running down the aisle and jumping onto the platform it was really cute they had her dressed up real nice too.

As the night progressed everyone at some point was on the dance floor cutting a rug to some songs from the 80’s and 90’s it was so much fun you can see on the highlight video as well. Both moms seemed to have danced the entire time and it didn’t eve matter what song was on they were just so happy to be there celebrating with their children.

Congrats Laura and Bill and thank you for letting us be a part of your special day!

5 Tips for hiring the Right Wedding Photographer

Here are 5 Tips for hiring the Right Wedding Photographer.

1. Connection

I believe this is the number one most important thing on the list! If you are able to connect to the photographer and they are able to connect with you, they will be able to tell your story in a way that best shows who you are. Also, connecting with a photographer will show you how they will connect with your family and friends the day of the wedding. I’ve done video for a few weddings were I could tell the connection between the photographer and the couple just wasn’t there, they just weren’t clicking with everyone. I think the initial connection begins with the first meeting, this is why I stress to my couples so much to meet face to face because it helps develop a connect no email could.

2. Budget

Your budget will determine whether you should have the initial meeting with the photographer or not. Their pricing is typically on their website or you may need to contact them to ask for pricing. Please Please Please do not just let some Joe Shmo thats going to charge just dinner, and that just bought a camera yesterday shoot your wedding just because he would be “Budget Friendly.” I’ve heard too many stories of couples who didn’t want to pay a professional and regret having horrible pictures or even worse the person never gave them any. It just breaks my heart to know that couples don’t have the biggest day of their life captured well because they didn’t want to hire a professional.

Typically packages are offered and depending on your budget you should be able to find a package that will work great for you. Please  budget for a Photographer…please.

3. Reviews

Reviews will tell you right from the beginning a few things: One, if they are trustworthy enough to follow through with what they’re doing, and two, how the overall experience for people are with that particular photographer. Today it is easy to look up reviews to see what people say about a wedding photographer, and I would recommend reading as many as you can to see what others say about their experience.

4. Style

I’ve come to realize that photography is an art and every artist and every person viewing the art sees it and interprets it in their own way. That being said, every photographer has a style and their work will show you. Some really good photographers are able to adjust their style as well to better fit the needs and wants of the bride and groom. I recommend to all of our couples who we meet with to pic out a few wedding pictures and tell me what specifically they like and dislike about each image that way I can get a better idea of the style they want.

5. Copyright

This one is soooo huge! I’ve heard horror stories of couples who hire a photographer and try to use their own pictures only to find out they need to license them from the photographer, and sometimes need to pay more for the full resolution file! That is crazy! Why on earth would you pay to have your wedding day covered only to have to pay more to use your pictures.

I recommend finding a photographer that will give you the full resolution and the full rights to YOUR images. Our policy is to give our couples full rights to all the images and we just ask to use them for our website and social media, so everything you see on my website is owned by the Bride and Groom that are in the pictures. If at any moment a couple wants us to take down their picture its done and done legally since they own the picture.

-BONUS- Turnaround Time

I know this was 5 tips but here is a bonus! Turnaround time is the time between the wedding to the time you get your images back. Everyone has different times and you should ask whoever you are wanting to book. Some people do a Month or a few months (I do 3 weeks tops). Make sure your photographer clarifies this and make sure it is in the contract.

There you have it 5 (or 6) Tips for hiring the Right Wedding Photographer. I hope you found this helpful and let me know if you have any questions.

Austin Texas Wedding Videographer | Megan and Jim Wedding at the Villa St. Clair in Manor Texas

I had the privilege of shooting Megan and Jim’s rehearsal dinner at Carmelo’s in downtown Austin. I knew the wedding day was going to be special when I arrived and everyone was talking to each other, hugging, laughing, and Megan and Jim weren’t even there yet! A special moment that stood out to me during the dinner is when Megan and Jim stood up to give some direction for the following day and uncle mark had a question about the shuttle taking everyone to the venue from the hotel and wondering if the bus were to leave anyone behind. Everyone busted out laughing and Jim responded saying “Its alright we will make sure you get on the shuttle.”

Their whole day was so nice and special and a lot had to do with the love the whole family had for each other. Villa St. Clair is a very nice venue and is built for weddings, the staff is always great to work with and it makes for the wedding day to go smoothly and be at its best.

Getting to interview Megan and Jim before the ceremony was special to see and hear the excitement the two of them had for this special occasion. The ceremony was very special and it was easy to see the Love everyone had for the lovely couple.

During the cocktail hour everyone mingled and got to listen to and amazing saxophone player all while eating and enjoying the photo-booth.

The reception was a blast with the heartwarming speeches of everyone alongside hilarious stories and what seemed like an un-ending dance party!

Below you can see what i was able to capture of Megan and Jim’s spectacular day. Congrats Megan and Jim!

Austin Texas Wedding Videographer and Photographer | Leah and Andrew Wedding The springs event Venue in Georgetown Texas

Leah and Andrew were such a privileged to work with. The originally contacted me to do their engagement pictures, and we all really had a good time. So much so the wanted me to do their wedding. My wife and I ended up doing Video and Photography for their big day. (My wife did the photos were a good team)

I really felt like even though we were hired to take pictures and video we made it a goal of ours to make Leah and Andrew have the best day of their lives. The whole day was real laid back and it felt like family. The Springs event  venue is really a special place for couples to get married it seems as though it a one stop location and it was perfect.

The ceremony was beautiful and it was filled with a lot of joy! The reception came and Andrew’s dance with his mom was priceless. (You can see some of it in the video below) Another memorable thing was Andrew’s groom cake it was a grill with all the good stuff on it.  I was very Impressed. Another thing was the people who caught the garter and bouquet were dating! Can anyone else hear the church bells ringing?

We had a fun time and it looked like everyone else did also. They were so great to work with and a big congratulations to Leah and Andrew!

Austin Texas Wedding Photographer and Videographer | Catherine and Emilio Wedding at Memory Lane Events Center

A few weeks ago we had the privilege of doing both, photography and videography, for the beautiful wedding of Catherine and Emilio at Memory Lane Events Center. They were so fun and graceful to be around. As they said “I do” we couldn’t help but notice how touched their families and friends were, you could tell everyone there was happy to see this beautiful couple coming together as one. The reception was filled with fun, laughter, and unique surprises. One of the bride’s brothers is a chef and catered the entire event, not only was the food amazing, but it also brought a special touch to their wedding to have someone so close to them catering with love.
Catherine and Emilio, congratulations on your beautiful wedding and we pray God continues to bless your union and guide you through the years to come.

Austin Texas Maternity Photographer | Selina and Michael Maternity Shoot at Old Settlers Park

And so it continues… You see, we had the privilege of being Michael and Selina’s wedding photographers, and while she was pregnant, they called us to shoot her maternity pictures, we were so excited. This is an amazing couple of the most loving, selfless people you could possibly meet, they are missionaries and have given their lives to feed the hungry, heal the sick, and tell people about the love of Jesus, so any time that we can get around them, we consider it an honor. I feel like this photo shoot is a continuation into their lives, since we were there for the “I do’s!” Selina had a clear picture of what she wanted the outcome of these pictures to be, which was a beautiful sunset photo shoot, but with a very cloudy day, it seemed like that wasn’t going to happen. Luckily with our eye and specialty in lighting and the witty-bit of sun rays we were able to get, we fulfilled this beautiful new mama’s desire. Her pictures came out just beautiful and the love of Michael and Selina for each other and for their promised little girl, Selah Gloria, is eminent in every captured moment. So to the Lombardo’s, congratulations on becoming parents.

Austin Texas Wedding Photographer | Katie and Matt Bridal Shoot at Zilker Botanical Garden

Katie and Matt were such a sweet couple to work with. They had just gotten married and wanted to do a romantic newlywed photo shoot together in one of their favorite places in town, the Zilker Botanical Gardens. This place is absolutely gorgeous and great for this silly romantic couple. They were so sweet to each other and playful at the same time, I’m sure they would inspire anyone that would’ve seen them to be better and let go a little. We had so much fun working with them that time just flew by. Congratulations Katie and Matt, I hope your joy continues to inspire people and that you enjoyed your photos as much as we enjoyed taking them.
